Lumeni: Cultural ports Aegean to the Black Sea

On April 16-18,  2015 the members of the  project working group (Didebulidze. Bulia, Janjalia, Cubinashvili Centre, Tbilisi)  held the meetings in Batumi,  in the frames of GoA 1, (5.7.4) Best Practice Exchange. The participants  from the local net work have been informed and invited by e-mails and direct calls beforehand. In difference with the training courses, that were held in November, 2014,  to this particular meetings were invited the main representatives of the net-work bodies, that are actively involved in the implementation of the project objectives.

1. Discussion on the Ajara touristic potential issues
2. Discussion on cultural heritage sites preservation and development issues
3. Finalization of the tourism promotional material: cultural guide, leaflet. pamphlet, web-page (portal);
4. Tourist information signs – format, production and installation.
The discussion was focused on the rich resources and opportunities of Ajara for  development  of cultural tourism. And on the problems of providing necessary facilities for these objectives. The  Limen working group suggested their vision of what must be done to enhance this field and what opportunities the Limen projects provides for this.
The Limen group suggested creating a video-clip on the Cultural Heritage of Batumi and ancient ports  to be broadcasted by the local TV, National TV and by internet. Serious discussion was held on  information signs:  size, format,  materials etc
Discussion was held on site management, cultural tourism and synergy of relevant  bodies .
Mr. Giorgi Tavamaishvili, Minister of Education, Culture and Sport of Ajara Autonomy promised to support all the activities aiming at development of cultural tourism development and CH preservation; Miranda Charkviani,  director of the Agency stressed the necessity of stronger partnership between different bodies, especially the Agency and Tourism Department. The visit to Batumi and meetings with the representatives of the local network proved to be very efficient.
