Georgian Scholar and Ceramist Zachariah Maisuradze

An exhibition and a conference dedicated to the 100th anniversary of a well-known Georgian scholar and artist, a distinguished representative of Georgian ceramic art Zachariah Maisuradze was held at the George Chubinashvili National Research Centre for Georgian Art  History and Heritage Preservation. Zachariah Maisuradze was one of the founders of the Institute of Georgian Art History. His pedagogical activity, scientific work concerning medieval Georgian ceramic art, as well as his research in technological and practical issues of this sphere provided a basis for the development of the modern time Georgian ceramic art.

The exhibition opened on April 28, at 5 p.m.

There were represented Zachariah Maisuradze’s ceramic decorated panels, small figure compositions and copies of medieval Georgian plastic art.
A conference dedicated to Zachariah Maisuradze’s scientific activity was held on April 29 (11a.m. – 4 p.m.). The issues of modern Georgian professional ceramic art were considered
