“Culture and Artistic Life in the First Republic of Georgia (1918-1921)” is a publication, dedicated to the short-lived independence of the country, containing two essays: “Culture and Art in the Independent Georgia (1918-1921) by Vakhtang Beridze and “Architecture and Construction Activities in 1917-1920 Georgia” by Dimitri Tumanishvili. The book is richly illustrated with the artworks of 1918-1921, photographs of the personalities active in that time period and various historical documents, the full English translation of the Georgian text is provided and the annotations are attached to the illustrations.

The book represents a final stage of a multi-year research project financed by the Rustaveli Foundation. The edition “Medieval Georgian Sculpture” includes a lot of unpublished material, as well as well-known reliefs the photographs of which have been taken again. The edition helps to create an uninterrupted picture of development of Medieval Georgian sculpture. Moreover, as far as the main trend of the book has scientific character it represents extensive studies which together with the material create a full picture of development of the mention branch in the above pointed chronological period.
