გიორგი ჩუბინაშვილის სახელობის ქართული ხელოვნების ისტორიისა და ძეგლთა დაცვის ეროვნული კვლევითი ცენტრმის ინიციატივითა და ორგანიზებით, დავით კაკაბაძის ფონდთან ერთად 2021 წლის 24-25 მაისს მოეწყო სამეცნიერო კონფერენციას:
ხელოვნება და სივრცე – დავით კაკბაძე – მეცნიერი, მოაზროვნე, მხატვარი.
კონფერენცია გაიმართა online ფორმატში. წარმოდგენილი იყო 18 მოხსენება.
კონფერენცია მიზნად ისახავდა, დავით კაკაბაძის მრავალფეროვანი შემოქმედებითი მემკვიდრეობის, ყველა მიმართულების მაქსიმალური სისრულით თავმოყრა-წარმოჩენას. წარმოდგენილი იყო კვლევები მისი დაზგური ფერწერისა და გრაფიკის, ქანდაკების, კინო-მხატვრობისა და თეატრის მხატვრობის შესახებ.

On May the 24-25, 2021 a scientific conference was organized on the initiative of the George Chubinashvili National Research Centre for Georgian Art History and Heritage Preservation together with the Davit Kakabadze Foundation:
Art and the space – Davit Kakabadze – a researcher, thinker, artist.
The conference was held in online format and eighteen reports were given.
The aim of the conference was to collect and reveal the variety and all trends of Davit kakabadze’s artistic heritage with ultimate fullness.  There were represented researches about his easel painting, graphic arts, sculpture, film painting and theatre decoration.

Davit Kakabadze, an artist – in the context of All-European artistic thinking.

The book of an artist-ceramist Nana Kiknadze (1928-2016) “The 20th Century Georgian Professional Decorative-Applied Art” describes processes taking place in the sphere of Georgian decorative-applied art beginning from the 1950s of the previous century up to the 10s of the 21st century. In the book there are separately studied such fields of decorative-applied art as artistic ceramics, Georgian textile art, artistic glass, enamel, chasing and artistic wood work.
The book has been made ready for publishing in The George Chubinashvili National Research Centre for Georgian Art History and Heritage Preservation – a group of scientists has been formed, illustration material has been chosen, facts and dates have been defined more exactly and rechecked.
The book has been published with the financial support of The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia.

Public Lecture: “The Khakhuli Dome Decoration: Eschatological and Historical Context”

The Giorgi Chubinashvili National Research Centre for Georgian Art History and Heritage Preservation proudly announces that the long-term cooperation with KunsthistorischesInstitut in Florenz – Max-Planck-Institut continues.
In 2019 Giorgi Chubinashvili National Research Centre for Georgian Art History and Heritage Preservation launched the seasonal school “Tao-Klarjeti: History and Heritage of Movable and Immovable Monuments”  in collaboration with  Max-Planck Institut-KunsthistorischesInstitut in Florence, the University of Basel, Seminar of Art history,  University of Fribourg, Art History Department, Switzerland and with the financial support of Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia.
Within the framework of this project, Chubinashvili Center hosted a number of outstanding scholars from various leading institutions  (Prof. Gerhard Wolf – Director of the KunsthistorischesInstitut in Florenz – Max-Planck-Institut,  Prof. Barbara Shellewald – University of Basel, Switzerland, Prof. Michele Bacci University of Fribourg, Switzerland, Dr. Annette Hofman, KunsthistorischesInstitut in Florenz – Max-Planck-Institut, Prof. TolgaUyar –  NevsehirHaciBektasVeli University, Turkey, Prof. Cornelia Horn Institute Martin Luther University Halle Wittenberg, Germany, Dr. Thomas Kaffenberger and Dr. Manuela Studer, University of Fribourg, Switzerland); A number of on-site presentations on Tao-Klarjeti monuments were held during the travels across Georgia and Turkey  followed by the public lecture (presented by Prof. Barbara Schellewald), the photo-exhibition  “Monuments of Tao-Klarjeti” (TamazDvali) and the concluding round-table discussion, that took place at the Chubinashvili Center.
At the end of the first phase of the project, Georgian scholars traveled to Switzerland and participated in the International Forum on Medieval Art History at the University of Bern, where the papers prepared within the project were presented.
The project had a number of important results:
– Proceedings of the conference papers will been published in CONVIVIUM
Research fellows of Chubinashvili Center have been in a long term internship at the KHI- Max Plank Institute in Florence ;
– The possibility to plan and implement various joint research projects, etc.
The online meeting of October 9th, 2020, was initiated by the KHI-Max Plank Institute for the History of Art in Florence, was also the part of this collaboration.  Dr. EkaterineGedevanishvili(she was one of the leaders of the project “Tao-Klarjeti History and Heritage – Movable and Immovable Monuments”) presented the paper on “The Khakhuli Dome Decoration: Eschatological and Historical Context”.  The seminar was divided into two parts, where all participants and organizers of the seasonal school participated. During the first session (closed), the results of the seasonal school were summarized.  The second session was public and available to everybody.
