22nd International Congress of Byzantine Studies

22nd International Congress of Byzantine Studies were held on August 22-27, 2011 in Sofia, Bulgaria. More than thousand scholars from different countries and institutions attended the Congress. Scholars form the G. Chubinashvili National Research Centre for Georgian Art History and Heritage Preservation were invited to participate in the Congress:

Dr. Prof. Leila Khuskivadze, La mosaïque de Guélati: organization du travail, technique, restauration);

Dr. Mariam Didebulidze, Impact of the Anti-Heretical Disputes on the Wall Painting Program of the St. Nicholas Church at Kintsvisi.

Georgian scholars took an active part in the Congress, participating in debates; visiting all the exhibitions arranged in the frames of the Congress and also visiting cultural heritage sites: Plovdiv, Bachkovo monastery, Bojana monastery etc.

They disseminated the books published by the G. Chubinashvili Centre as well as the leaflets with the annotations on these books among the Congress participants. They renewed old and established new relations with foreign scholars.
